Arnis is a free and open-source desktop application written in Rust that bridges the gap between real-world geography and Minecraft, allowing users to generate playable Java and Bedrock Edition worlds from any location on Earth. By leveraging community-contributed data from OpenStreetMap (for buildings, roads, and land use) and elevation data from AWS Terrain Tiles, Arnis accurately recreates streets, landmarks, and natural terrain with deterministic, rule-based algorithms—no AI or machine learning involved. The intuitive interface lets users select an area on an interactive map, choose their Minecraft edition, and generate a world in seconds. For mobile and on-the-go users, the MapSmith service enables browser-based world generation for Bedrock Edition without any downloads.
